Western Mexico, was rocked by a massive 7.6 magnitude earthquake on Monday, September 19, 2022.
The quake struck at around 1 p.m. local time, near Mexico's west coast and near Michoacan's border with the state of Colima, where the main port of Manzanillo is located, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) said.
The United States Pacific Tsunami Warning Center issues, a tsunami warning for coastal areas. Warnings of waves reaching 1 to 3 meters above high tide are possible.
Recently, the death toll has risen to two. Authorities are currently still assessing the damage caused by the disaster.
The head of Mexico's Civil Protection Agency, Laura Velazquez, said two of the dead were in Colima. The two victims died after being crushed by the rubble of part of the building.
