Welcome to my channel about natural disasters of the world, today I will tell you about the Fili cyclone that hit New Caledonia this week.
Tropical Cyclone Fili intensified as it moved over the Coral Sea, bringing heavy rains, strong winds and high waves to New Caledonia.
On April 6, the wind speed in New Caledonia was up to 100 km/h.
The center of the cyclone was about 400 km northwest of Noumea, New Caledonia, and the system was moving east-southeast at 18 km/h.
Heavy rains, strong winds and high waves have been reported throughout the country, especially in the northern regions.
Six municipalities in northern New Caledonia, including Belep, are on alert, the population must stay at home, and all professional, educational and commercial activities have been suspended.
The Fili is forecast to continue south over the Coral Sea on April 6 and 7 passing west of New Caledonia with maximum sustained winds of 95-110 km/h (60-70 mph).
