NASA has selected Elon Musk-led SpaceX to provide launch services for the first-ever mission to demonstrate the capability to deflect an asteroid by hitting it with a high-speed spacecraft. The Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART) mission is targetted to launch in June 2021 on SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket. NASA revealed the total cost to launch DART is approximately $69 million.
