The Qur'an alludes to a special event which supposedly took place in the life of Muhammed. One that Muslims adamantly hold to as part of their Islamic tradition, even though the details of which are not found written anywhere in the Qur'an. Yet this story, dear to the hearts of Muslims concerning Muhammed, is known in the hadith as "The Night Journey." Now the al-Masjid al-Aqsa written of in surah Al-Isra is believed to be part of the Temple Mount complex in Jerusalem. So, due to this mystical excursion in the life of Mohammad, the fabled Night Journey has inaugurated the holy city of Jerusalem as the third most holy place on the planet for Muslims worldwide.
