Unmarried mother Lila DiBias was afraid and ashamed. She’d become pregnant just a month before the COVID-19 pandemic and hadn’t been able to attend her home church, Fruit Cove Baptist in Jacksonville, Florida, when she needed it most.
Her son John was 7 months old when she returned to Fruit Cove Baptist Church. That’s when she learned of Embrace Grace, an international Christian ministry for single women facing unplanned motherhood and single men facing fatherhood.
DiBias found a friend in Fruit Cove’s Embrace Grace leader Windy Keene, a married mother who had been single and pregnant decades earlier at 17.
Embrace Grace works with pregnancy support centers and local churches to start support groups and provide support for families as during an unplanned pregnancy and after the baby is born. Learn more about them at EmbraceGrace.com.
Prayer is the first thing persecuted Christians request when Voice of the Martyrs (VOM) spokesman Todd Nettleton encounters them in countries where it’s difficult to practice their faith.
That’s the logic behind VOM’s latest global prayer guide, a free tool that has fueled Christian prayers for the persecuted since 1997.
The 2022 Global Prayer Guide tracks more than 60 countries where Christians suffer persecution, informing readers of the type of persecution suffered, the source of the persecution and what drives the mistreatment. Countries are grouped into categories of “hostile” and “restricted.”
“Voice of the Martyrs has identified over 70 countries where Christians are persecuted,” according to Nettleton. He says “That’s the information that is in this 2022 prayer guide.”
