DEVELOPMENTS IN TRUMP’S MIDDLE EAST PEACE ROADMAP ARE ‘MASSIVELY SIGNIFICANT’
Liberal MP Dave Sharma says the diplomatic normalisation deals signed between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain with Israel are a massively significant event.
Overnight, the foreign ministers of the UAE and Bahrain signed historic deals with Israel at a ceremony at the White House which aim to normalise diplomatic ties, overseen by US President Donald Trump and his administration.
“It’s massively significant, I don’t think you can overstate that,” Mr Sharma told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
“This is the biggest breakthrough Israel has had in its international space since 1994, since it’s peace treaty with Jordan.
“The Middle East was a bit of a frozen wasteland; it had been kind of stuck in the past and the historical conflicts of the past kind of dominated the politics of today.
“Trump has really shaken things up and disrupted and said we’re not going to be held hostage to the conflicts and grievances of the past.”
