AFGHANISTAN EARTHQUAKE: DEADLY EARTHQUAKE DEVASTATES EAST AFGHANISTAN
A massive earthquake of magnitude 6.1 ripped through Afghanistan on June 22. At least 1000 people have been killed and 1500 injured. Its epicentre was in Afghanistan's Paktika province, which is 50 kilometers southwest of Khost city. The quake was measured to be 6 miles deep. Tremors could be felt across a radius of more than 500 kilometers. Many were trapped beneath collapsed and destroyed homes. Rescuers, aid and helicopters were rushed to the affected rural and mountainous areas. The quake is the latest of a series of crises to hit Afghanistan.
