The 2008 Atlantic Hurricane Season is the sixth most destructive hurricane season of all time, and the only year on record to have a major hurricane in every month from July to November. The season was most notable for many significant hurricane impacts in the Caribbean, including Hurricane Gustav, Hurricane Ike, Hurricane Omar, and Hurricane Paloma, which all impacted the region as major hurricanes. The deadliest storm of the season was Hurricane Hanna, which caused over 500 deaths. Despite all of these powerful storms, the 2008 hurricane season also began the category 5 hurricane drought, which would last until Hurricane Irma in 2017, based on our analysis.
